The courtship began where all enterprise romances go to die: in the LinkedIn direct messages.
Back in 2023, Billion Dollar Boy co-founders Edward East and Thomas Walters were scrolling past thought-leadership posts and found Brendan Gahan preaching the gospel of B2B social reach. Three years later, BDB announced it bought Gahan’s agency, Creator Authority, in an all-cash, "multimillion-dollar" deal with an earnout attached. Financial terms remained undisclosed, because putting an actual number on the check would ruin the fun of forecasting that BDB’s revenue will pass $100 million next year.
Gahan is thrilled. As he put it: "It feels like YouTube in 2010; there's this moment when it just explodes, and I'm excited to grow with it."
Comparing corporate whitepapers disguised as carousels to early YouTube is ambitious branding. It is also the exact line an agency head needs when selling a 15-person boutique to a consumer network hungry for new invoices. Consumer creator shops are running into standard holding-company problems: beauty and lifestyle clients know what a TikTok creator costs down to the dollar, and procurement departments have spent three years cutting retainers. Software companies and enterprise logistics firms, on the other hand, still treat creator budgets like experimental software licenses. They have cash, they have zero internal price discovery, and they will happily pay an agency to license a carousel post from an enterprise architect.
BDB is not buying proprietary tech. It is buying an official LinkedIn Marketing Partner badge, client logos like Amazon and Mastercard, and a license to pitch enterprise retainers. The plan is to balloon Gahan’s 15-person team into 30 or 40 by shifting existing BDB staff into the unit and giving them desks in New York and London.
That reshuffle tells the whole story. You take junior account managers who spent last quarter clearing cosmetic product seedings, hand them a glossary of enterprise SaaS jargon, and reassign them to B2B campaigns where the margins are wider. Creator Authority gets folded into the machine, Gahan gets an SVP title, and BDB gets to show prospective buyers a brand-new practice area just in time for earnout season.
